A national journal of undergraduate research and criticism in the discipline of English. You have to subscribe to read the articles.

Animus
This journal's purpose is to analyze of the works of Western civilization and contemporary views of the Western canon. There are some great essays on this site.

Applied Semiotics / Sémiotique Appliquée
A bilingual, refereed journal devoted to the study of Semiotics. Submissions from scholars are welcome.

CLCWeb
A quarterly online journal with essays on comparative literature and cultural studies. There are some good essays specifically on the subject of literary criticism and theory.

CTHEORY
CTHEORY is an international journal of theory and culture containing articles, interviews, and book reviews. You will find a great collection of essays on literary theory here.

Critical Inquiry
This journal has been hailed as the best of the academic journals by the Times Literary Supplement. They have posted generous excerpts from essays and articles online for free.

Detours and Delays
A journal published online periodically by the School of Art and Design at the University of Derby. You will find some good information on Walter Benjamin.

The Journal of Nietzsche Studies
No online essays or articles to read, but it is free to members of the 'Nietzsche Society'. However, membership itself costs $35 per year ($25 per year for students.

Jouvert
Jouvert: a Journal of Postcolonial Studies, is a refereed, multi-disciplinary journal devoted to discourses on nation race, class, and gender.

Other Voices
A surperb online collection of essays and articles on literary theory and cultural criticism. Contributors include academics, independent scholars, and sometimes students.

Postmodern Culture
This academic journal, published by Johns Hopkins University Press, charges individuals $20 per year to read all the online essays, but the current issue is free for everyone.

SubStance
SubStance is published by the University of Wisconsin Press and edited at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Most of the works in the archived issues are available online.

Undercurrent
Another great online journal providing information on literary criticism and theory. So far seven issues are posted.
